Beaches - A Visitors Guide To Sydney Australia

The largest city in Australia is Sydney. The most recent consensus showed that the city of Sydney was home to over four million people. In addition, it is also the capital of New South Wales. As far as location is concerned, Sydney is situated on the south east coast giving it perfect access to both the land and the sea. This works out great for tourists visiting the area. The city of Sydney was the first European colony in Australia, and it was established in 1788. Ever since the founders laid foot in this area, Sydney has been growing. One of the main reasons that Sydney has grown so much is that it is the financial center to the entire country. It is also a harbor city which makes it a very desirable place to live. Since Sydney is the largest city in Australia, it is also the most popular tourist destination. This helps to keep Sydney growing, and also bring in a lot of money on an annual basis. Visiting Sydney is all about taking advantage of the attractions. No matter what you are in the mood for, you will be able to find something that suits your needs. One of the most popular attractions of Sydney is the beaches. If you love to sit back and relax on your vacations, the beaches of Sydney are one of the best places to do this. All you need to do is book yourself a room at one of the many hotels in the area, and then head to the gorgeous beaches for a day of relaxation. If you would rather see more of the city, there are many attractions that you should think about. Two of the most popular landmarks are the Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Opera House. Both of these are unique to the area, and areas that are seen by thousands of tourists each year. Before you schedule your trip to Sydney make sure that you know what the temperature is. Chances are that you will want to frequent the area during the summer months. Unlike in the United States, the warmest month of the year in Sydney is January. On the other side of things, January is the coldest month. Precipitation falls year round, and there is no way to determine when this is going to happen. Often times the weather pattern in Sydney tricks Americans because it is the exact opposite of what they are used to dealing with. While visiting Sydney you will notice that the largest groups of people come from Irish, American, and English backgrounds. This makes it very easy for a large variety of people to fit into the cultural structure without much problem at all. The Kingsford Smith International Airport is the main airport in Sydney, and the one that you will use when coming in and leaving the city. The city of Sydney is growing at a rapid pace. And to go along with this, its tourism industry has also spiked in recent years as well. If you want to take a great trip, Sydney may be the right choice for you. Beaches - Mexico’s Tourism Sector “Sports” an Active Edge

The numbers and revenue show that sports enthusiasts are increasingly traveling to Mexico to get their hearts pumping and muscles moving. Both amateur and professional athletes are contributing to the ever-continuing expansion of Mexico’s sports tourism segment. Many sports benefit from Mexico’s natural beauty and unique backdrops, a fact not gone unnoticed by professional sporting event planners. Mexico has recently hosted many high-profile international sporting events, including Rip Curl’s Pro Search surfing event, part of the Association of Surfing Professionals’ Men’s World Championship Tour last June, and the PGA’s 2006 Champions Tour’s Puerto Vallarta Blue Agave Golf Classic last March. Upcoming events include the yearly Mexico City International Marathon in August. Amateur athletes and sports lovers are also helping to spur Mexico’s sports sector growth. 2005 enjoyed robust numbers, with sports activities pumping approximately US$1.27 billion into the national economy. Several high-grossing sports activities which contributed to the impressive overall figure. - In 2005, 600 thousand golfers traveled to Mexico, generating $400 million. - Triathlons attracted 36 thousand travelers to Mexico, who in turn generated US$6 million in 2005. - In 2005, diving and relating activities produced US$200 million in revenue. - Sports fishing reeled in $500 million in 2005. Bright future forecast for sports tourism The increased popularity of Mexico’s sports tourism sector echoes travel developments on a global scale. The World Tourism Organization predicts that sports tourism will be the second most important travel segment by 2020. Sports tourism’s bright future recently prompted Mexico Tourism Secretary Rodolfo Elizondo to underscore the importance of developing this segment during a national sports tourism conference. “Sports tourism plays an important role in the evolution of Mexico’s tourism industry. As we continuously improve infrastructure and sports tourism offerings on both a local and regional level, Mexico’s position as a sports tourism destination will be solidified, more jobs will be generated and we will attract investors,” he said. Elizondo went on to mention that Mexico’s active support of the sports tourism sector is part of Sectur’s strategy to diversify the country’s tourism offerings beyond its already-successful products like sun and beaches, nature tourism, and cultural tourism, among others. About the Mexico Tourism Board The Mexico Tourism Board (MTB) brings together the resources of federal and state governments, municipalities and private companies to promote Mexico’s tourism attractions and destinations internationally. Beaches - What’s the weather like in Mauritius?

Mauritius is one of the most beautiful and accessible island in the world, a real tropical paradise. Mauritius is situated off the east coast of Madagascar in the Indian Ocean. This unique geographical position gives to Mauritius a mild and relatively pleasant climate throughout the year. So, what’s the best time to go to Mauritius and what’s the climate variations like? Mauritius has a fascinating blend of microclimates, all of them fairly mild. While locals complain of ‘cold’ weather during ‘winter’ in Mauritius, the temperature rarely drops below 20 degrees C on the coast. This means you can still have a midnight swim in the sea in Mauritius under a starry sky in the middle of winter. This gives the country a strategic advantage inasmuch as you can visit Mauritius almost anytime of the year. So when is the best time to visit Mauritius? Well, it depends on what you want to go there for. Excluding peak cyclone season (January and February), December to March are the best months for diving, when the waters are at their clearest; June to August is best for surfing; and October to April is excellent for big game fishing, when the large predators feed close to shore. The Mauritian ‘winter’ occurs from May to November, when daytime temperatures drop from sticky to balmy. With less rain and humidity, this is one of the nicest times to visit. The least agreeable period is from December to April, when the long days can prove too hot and humid for some and the threat of cyclones is in the air. If you have to go to Mauritius in the warmer season and you do not particularly like hot days out you can always avoid the sunny beaches. Even when it’s above 30 degrees C on the coast, the towns inland on higher grounds are usually cooler. Curepipe for instance is a town situated on the central plateau, one of the higher regions of Mauritius. The temperature difference between this town and a coastal resort can be significant. The choice is yours. It is obviously more entertaining down the coast and you can always choose an air conditioned room. Keep away from the beaches in the midday sun and venture out on some long romantic walks along the sandy beaches of Mauritius at sunset. So when is the best time to go to Mauritius? Because there are no extreme climate conditions, except for the rare cyclones that last a few days, you can go pretty much anytime. That of course gives Mauritius a strategic advantage over other tourist destinations. The country and its climate is indeed attracting a increasing number of tourists thus positioning Mauritius on the top lists of world holiday destinations. ——

I was born and raised on Oahu and by the time I graduated, like a lot of folks from the islands, I just had to get off the island and experience the “mainland”. I am 43, married with 2 children and living in San Diego, the next best place to live. My husband and I moved here in 1994, but I find that I miss the islands, especially since my family is still there and we frequently visit at least 1 to 2 times a year. Visiting takes care of that urge to have to move back and we can have fun and appreciate it each and every time.

If you’ve ever been there, or you haven’t been there yet, there is so much to do but you have to remember to get out of Waikiki! So, I’d like to share information to experience the island and not be a typical tourist.

First of all, the weather to me, is perfect all times of the year. If you visit in the rainy season, you will find that the rain is warm with a refreshing smell that is hard to described. If your visit is during the hot months, it is quite humid, but how nice is it to stay in shorts and your bathing suit all day long! So, pack light and leave room in your suitcase for all the fun souvenirs you will want to bring back with you.

If there is one thing you have to do on your trip, I highly recommend that you take a day trip and visit to the famous Lanikai Beach, in Kailua. Kailua is where I grew up and it has the best beach (secluded) as well as the greatest Real Estate in Hawaii. It is on the east side of the island. Ask for directions and anyone can tell you how to get there.

Lanikai is a big one way loop. Driving into Lanikai, you will find the well known, Buzz’s Steakhouse with great margaritas and maitais. Dining there, you may just see an actor or two dining next to you as many famous actors own homes in this area. Keep driving on and you will hit Lanikai Boat ramp. Park and enjoy hanging out at the beach and swim to Flat Island. Keep driving through Lanikai and you will see all the million dollar homes (that I will someday own) and the loop will swing you around again.

When you enter or leave Lanikai, there will be a little shopping center that you must stop into. You will find K & L drive-in. If you know Hawaii, it is known for their yummy food and here you will find a variety of plate lunch choices. My favorite is the Garlic Chicken with rice and macaroni salad. And, save room for some yummy shaved ice! You will find it right next door, at Island Snow ??” get it with ice cream.

If you decide to drive around the island, definitely hit the North Shore, Haleiwa. That is where you will find the surfers, if it is the right season. There on the North Shore, you will find the famous, Matsumoto’s shaved ice - popular for their snow cones. There is always a line, but it goes quick and worth the wait. Waimea Beach is around the corner from there as well. Beautiful beach, huge, perfect surf if it is in season, or super glassy and flat to swim, if not.

And, if you stay in Waikiki, enjoy the beach. Rent the long boards and take a surf lesson. We did that last year with the kids and had a blast!

Last, take advantage of the beautiful flower leis. Buy a lei from one of the lei stands. Get something different and fragrant. A Tuberose, Pikaki or Puakinikini are very fragrant and beautiful. Just don’t buy a plumeria! Some people before leaving the island will throw their lei in the ocean as a promise to the island that they will return or just wear it back home with you.

Take a moment to ask a local resident questions about the island. They would love to tell you about their home.

I hope that my information will help to make your trip a little more fun or at least get you excited about visiting the islands. All islands are unique and have their own special touch. Email me if you’d like. I always love to talk about my home.

Aloha!
